Indoors: Cleaning around your stove can be a bit of a chore but is an important task.  A build up of grease and grime can start a kitchen fire so it’s always a good idea to clean this area often. Warm water and soap will easily clean stove grates, burners and coils.  While your cleaning your stove go ahead and clean that oven as well.  Even if you have a self-cleaning oven, it’s always a good idea to clean off those chunks of food or drippings by hand at the very least a couple of times a year.  Leaving those items in your oven while in self-cleaning mode can cause a fire as well.

Outdoors: You may have just finished planting beautiful flowers and shrubs and have gotten your yard ready during the spring; but an important part of maintaining a beautiful exterior is washing your home.  Using a power washer can make this task fast and easy.  Be sure and cover any windows, flowers, light fixtures and electrical plugs to prevent any unwanted damage. Getting rid of that dirt and grime from the winter and spring will help give the exterior of your home a fresh look and attractive curb appeal.

The pantry is a place that we all go to every day, usually three times a day or more, yet it’s often overlooked when it comes to organization.  Whether you have a small pantry or a large walk-in, a little organization can go a long way.  Put open bags of flour, sugar, cereal and other items in airtight containers.  This helps to keep your food tasting fresher, longer and also helps to make your pantry look bigger.  Adding labels to the outside of these containers will help you find things faster (and helps you remember what you put inside those airtight containers). Canned goods can sometimes look like a big mess.  Organize the cans based on their contents.  Put soups and broths together in one section and tomatoes in another.  You can even go the extra mile and get a basket to organize your bags of chips, potatoes, onions and any other loose item.  Try to keep large, bulky items at the bottom of the pantry and smaller, less used items on top.  A good rule of thumb is keep items you use the most at eye level and the other items, organize by size. The smaller the item is the higher on the shelves it should go and vice versa.  It will help distribute weight properly on your shelves and also keep a clean look.
